The 2022 FIFA World Cup is scheduled to take place from November 20 to December 18 in the Middle Eastern nation of Qatar. This World Cup is filled with “firsts” and “lasts.” It will be the first World Cup to be hosted in the Arab world. Typically, the World Cup games take place within the months of May or July. However, with Qatar’s intense summer heat, it would make soccer games unplayable, let alone dangerous. Therefore, the decision was made to move the tournament to the end of fall, making it the first World Cup to do so. It will also be the last tournament to include 32 teams, as the following World Cup will consist of 48 teams.
