Jenny drank a lot of soda and was continuously gaining weight. In order to stay fit, she thought that it was about time she kicked the habit of drinking soda. She also found that the afternoon snacks she fondly enjoyed contained too much sugar. Her favorite chocolate cookies, for example, contained 17 g of sugar per“ portion.” And let’s just say she never had only one portion! So, she decided that it was time she cut back on those, too.
It was very hard for Jenny at first: She had sugar cravings after every meal and was desperate for a bar of chocolate! But, through willpower and determination, she managed to stay away from junk food and started to lose weight. In the first week alone, she lost 3 kg. For those of us who drink too much soda and eat too much sugar, maybe it’s high time we kicked the habit, too!
It is time
about time
high time+ 過去式的 that 子句 該是…… It is time (that) we decided whether to hold a press conference or not.
It is about time (that) Sophie started to exercise on a regular basis.
After a long day at work, it is high time (that) you took a rest.
It is time
about time
high time(+ for sb) + to V
→ It is time for us to decide whether to hold a press conference or not.
→ It is about time for Sophie to start to exercise on a regular basis.
→ After a long day at work, it is high time for you to take a rest.
Let’s (just) say (+ that 子句) 假設(……)
= say (+ that 子句)
Let’s say / Say (that) it takes three months to complete the task; then, we’d better start now.
