Male Competitors to Make History in the 2024 Summer Olympics
For the very first time, the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris will include male competitors in artistic swimming. Formerly known as synchronized swimming, artistic swimming has long been a sport dominated by women. While men have participated in lower-level artistic swimming events for decades, they have never been able to take part in the Olympics. For the Summer Olympics next year, each country will be allowed two male swimmers, limited to the team events.
Countries like the United States, Japan, Germany, China, Spain, and Italy already have highly-ranked male competitors. Over the years, men have been considered less competitive due to a lack of flexibility. However, many male competitors are determined to prove this idea wrong and show off their skills in the world’s leading sports event.
