Pam is a shopaholic. She can’t go through one day without shopping. She loves the feelings of happiness and contentment that shopping provides. Crowded as her closet is, she still thinks it’s short of one more pair of shoes. Packed as her kitchen is, she always believes it could do with one more appliance. Luckily, Pam earns a lot of money, so she can afford all of this stuff. And, if she ever loses her job, she’s got plenty she can sell!
However, for some people, being a shopaholic is no laughing matter. While Pam earns enough money to cover her splurges, others might spend much more than they can afford. High as their credit card bills are, they always add more to the balance. Shopaholics often shop as a result of a stressful situation in their lives, or to deal with feelings of depression. They are also prone to damage their personal relationships through their behavior―much like any other addiction. Those who think shopping is taking over their lives should always ask for help.
