Ohtani Signs Record-Breaking $700M Deal with Dodgers
The Los Angeles Dodgers made a big move by signing Japanese baseball star Shohei Ohtani to a historic 10- year, $700 illion contract. Announced by the team in December 2023, this deal is believed to be the biggest in global sports history, topping the record previously held by soccer star Lionel Messi.
Ohtani shared his commitment to the Dodgers on social media, promising to give his best for the team. The two-way player is set to make his Dodger debut on March 20, when the MLB regular season begins in Seoul, South Korea.
After signing Ohtani, the Dodgers continued on to recruit Japanese star pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto. The signing of these two Japanese superstars has put the team in a strong position to win the 2024 World Series.
