 　　Tai chi is an ancient Chinese martial art, which people of all ages across the world do today as a form of exercise. It is regarded as having numerous mental and physical health benefits. It is said that the slow movements and breathing help to reduce stress and anxiety, improve mood, and promote better sleep.

 　　There are also versions of tai chi which place more of an emphasis on its combative side. Students learn how to use their own and their opponent’s centers of gravity to their own advantage. The ability to utilize tai chi as a form of self-defense, though, takes thousands of hours of training.

　　太極拳是一種古老的中國武術，現今世界各地不同年齡層的人會打太極拳來當作一種運動。它被認為有許多促進身心健康上的好處。據說，太極拳的慢速動作及呼吸有助於減緩壓力與焦慮，也可以提振心情並助眠。

　　此外也有不同類型的太極拳，它們比較強調太極拳打鬥的一面。學生能學會如何運用自己與對手的重心使自己有利。不過，要利用太極拳作為防身術的一種需要數千小時的訓練。
