a hot cake 指「剛烤出爐的蛋糕」，可想而知，香噴噴、熱騰騰的蛋糕一定有很多人搶著買。所以用 sell like hot cakes（賣得跟熱蛋糕一樣）來形容一件商品「暢銷熱賣」，非常搶手。
