If you attend the Regata Storica, prepare yourself fora day that is filled with excitement and drama. Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted by the bright colors of the boats which linethe canals. The air will be filled with the sounds of cheering crowds and the splashing of oarsin the water. The event starts with a parade of beautiful boats. They are designed to look similar to those of the 16th century.
Next, it’s time for the races. There are currently four different types of races: pupparini regatta for children, mascarete regatta for women, caorline regatta for men with six oars, and gondolini regatta for champions. Each neighborhood in Venice has its own team, and everyone cheers for their favorites.
