There are two species of flowers linked to the month of April. For those born during this month, their birth flowers are daisies, with their eye-catching beauty, and sweet peas, with their sweet, soothing fragrance. They both come in a wide range of colors and have delicate appearances. However, daisies are hardier than sweet peas. Both of these lovely flowers make an elegant addition to any bouquet, but the symbolism of each is quite different.
Daisies are actually two flowers in one. They are composed of the numerous small, yellow florets in the center that form a circle, along with the numerous longer white petals coming out from the middle. Because the dual flowers grow together in harmony, daisies are associated with true love. The name “daisy” derives from “day’s eye” because the flower closes up at night and opens up when the sun rises. White daisies stand for purity and innocence, while the yellow variety signifies happiness and friendship. Pink daisies can mean love and romance, whereas red ones convey a stronger meaning of romantic intentions.
