     Recent research has revealed that human DNA can be carried by animals such as cats and dogs. This means that pet hair could potentially be used as evidence in criminal investigations as proof of the presence of a person at a crime scene. __1__ It examined the sources of material containing DNA, how it was transferred to the animals, and how long it stayed on them.
