P: Petra S: Simon

Petra is showing Simon some of her pictures from her recent trip to New Zealand.

P: Because I only had 10 days, I had to pick either North or South Island. So I chose to travel around North Island.

S: Why did you pick it?

P: When I was planning my trip, I wanted to make sure I got to see the beautiful coastline and experience some hot springs.

S: Wait! New Zealand has hot springs? Like in Wulai and Beitou?

P: Even better. Just wait a second and I’ll show you some cool pictures.

S: OK.

P: After arriving at Auckland Airport, we headed straight for the Northland region to a place called Bay of Islands. Look here.

S: That’s beautiful.

P: It was. I would have been happy to stay there all 10 days of my vacation. There were lakes, rivers, streams, and waterfalls. I’ve never seen beaches with water that clear.

S: I’m amazed!

P: Then, we went to Rotorua to learn about Maori culture. Also, I got to see the bubbling mud pools and a geyser that shoots water into the air a few times per day.

S: You’re right. That’s even cooler than Wulai!
