     A Dog ’s Purpose is a book by W. Bruce Cameron about a dog that lives several lifetimes. The story is told through the dog’s eyes as it lives different lives.

 　　The dog first starts off as a stray. Sadly, it gets put down by the people from Animal Control. After it dies, it awakes with a new life. Though it is a different dog now, it still keeps its memories. As a family pet, it brings happiness to its owner and is satisfied when its life comes to an end. During the dog’s third life, it is trained to be a search and rescue dog. When it passes away, it is happy that it could save many lives.

 　　This is not the end, though. The dog lives another life as a family pet again. However, it is sadly thrown away by its owners. With its tracking skills from its previous life, it is able to find its owner from its second life. The owner is able to sense that the dog has the same spirit as his old pet. The story ends happily, and the dog continues to have a purpose in its life.
