在英文中，get 是一個十分常見的動詞，用法非常多樣化。以下將介紹 get 的各種搭配詞 collocations 用法，讓讀者可以更熟悉並掌握使用技巧。
1 表示獲得、取得或達成某事物的情境：
get a job / degree / promotion / raise：表示「找工作」、「取得學位」、「晉升」、「加薪」
get a haircut 理髮、get a drink 喝杯飲料、get a ticket 買票
- I'm hoping to get a job in marketing after graduation. (畢業後我希望能找到一份行銷的工作。)
- He has been trying to get a job for months. (他已經試著找工作好幾個月了。)
- She got a degree in English literature from Oxford. (她從牛津大學獲得了英國文學學位。)
- He got a promotion to manager after working for the company for five years. (他在公司工作五年後被晉升為經理。)
- She got a raise of 10% after her performance review. (她在績效評估後加薪了10%。)
- I need to get a haircut before the wedding next week.（我需要在下週的婚禮前理髮。）

2 表示動作的情境：
get dressed 穿衣服、get up 起床

3 表示開始或動身：
get started / moving / going：表示「開始、著手」、「開始行動、動身、離開」、「開始」
- I need to get started on my homework or I won't finish it on time.（我需要開始做功課否則我會無法準時完成。）
- It's time to get moving if we want to catch the train.（如果我們想要趕上火車，現在該出發了。）
- It's time to get going on the project.（現在是該開始進行這個計畫的時候了。）
4 表示變得或變化的情境：
get better / older：表示「變得更好；康復」、「年齡漸長、變老」
- His health is getting better every day.（他的健康狀況每天都在好轉。）
- With regular exercise and a healthy diet, you can get better.（有規律的運動和健康的飲食可以讓你變得更好。）
- My grandmother is getting older and needs more help around the house.（我奶奶年紀漸長需要在家裡更多的幫助。）
5 表示理解、知道或認識的情境：
get the point 表示明白、理解某件事的要點、關鍵的意思。
get to know 表示認識、熟悉某人或某事物的意思。
get the hang of 表示熟悉或掌握某個技能或知識。
get it 表示理解、明白某件事情的含義或概念。
- After explaining it a few times, she finally got the point.（解釋了幾次後，她終於明白了要點。）
- We should get to know our new neighbors.（我們應該認識一下我們的新鄰居。）
- It took me a while to get the hang of playing the guitar, but now I can play pretty well.（我花了一些時間才學會彈吉他，但現在我彈得相當不錯。）

6 表示被迫或被要求做某事的情境：
get fired / arrested：表示「被解雇」、「被逮捕」
get in trouble：表示「陷入麻煩」
- He got fired because he was late many times.（他因為遲到了很多次而被解雇了。）
- He got arrested by the police last night for drunk driving.（昨晚醉酒駕駛的他被警察逮捕了。）
- He got in trouble by lending money to that person.（他借錢給那個人，結果自己卻陷入了麻煩。）
7 表示完成或取得：
get done / finished：表示「完成」
get through：表示「完成、通過」
- I'll call you as soon as I get this done. (我一完成這件事就會打給你。)
- I can't go out until I get finished with my homework. (我得完成作業才能出門。)
- He had a hard time getting through that difficult question on the exam.（他在考試中遇到了一道很難的問題，難以應對。）
看到這邊你可能會想：能不能用「go through」取代「get through」呢？
雖然「get through」和「go through」都有 "經歷某事" 的意思，但它們的用法和含義略有不同。
I finally got through the math homework.（我終於完成了數學作業。）
We'll get through this difficult time together.（我們將一起渡過這個困難時期。）相比之下，「go through」常用於＂描述某種過程或經歷＂，不一定是困難的，也不一定成功度過困難，例如：
I went through a lot of old photos this weekend.（這個週末我整理了很多舊照片。）
We're going through the hiring process right now.（我們現在正在進行招聘過程。）
She went through a lot of pain during her recovery.（她在恢復期間經歷了很多痛苦。）此外，「go through」還可以指＂通過某個地方或物體＂，例如：
We went through the tunnel to get to the other side.（我們穿過隧道到達另一邊。）
