 A  Wait! I can’t go into this coffee shop.
 B  Why not?
 A  I might run into my ex-girlfriend. She always comes here.
 B  No problem. Let’s go somewhere else.
 A  Thanks.
 

 A  等等 ！我不能去這間咖啡店。
 B  為什麼？
 A  我可能會遇到我前女友。她都會來這間店。
 B  沒問題。我們去別的地方吧。
 A  謝謝。
 

單字片語 Vocabulary and Phrases

 1  shop n. 商店

 2  run into sb 與某人不期而遇
= bump into sb
On my way to work, I ran into an old friend.
= On my way to work, I bumped into an old friend.
我在上班的途中與一位老朋友不期而遇。

 3  ex-girlfriend  n. 前女友
ex-boyfriend  n. 前男友
ex-wife  n. 前妻
ex-husband  n. 前夫
ex-  prefix 前任
ex  n. 前任（可指前女友、前男友、前妻或前夫）

 4  always adv. 總是；一直
Sam always reads books before going to bed.

口語技能 Speaking Skills

 1   Why not?　　為什麼（不行）？ 

“Why not?” 在口語會話中可用以表達三種意思：

 a  表示贊同或同意，常譯為「有何不可？」。

 A  Do you want to go to the beach with us?
 B  Sure. Why not?
 A  你要跟我們一起去海灘嗎？
 B  當然。有何不可？
