stay up late 熬夜
比平常或期望的時間更晚才上床睡覺。用來描述人們在晚上或凌晨時間保持清醒的情況。 e.g. They stayed up late chatting and catching up on old times.

pull an all-nighter 通宵達旦，整夜不睡。
是由 "all night" (整夜)這個短語轉變而來的。最早出現在20世紀中期，用來描述他們為了趕在截止日期前完成任務而整夜不睡的情況。 "pull" 在這裡的意思是「進行」或「做」，因此 "pull an all-nighter" 可以理解為「進行一個整夜不睡的活動」。 e.g. We pulled an all-nighter to get the project ready for the presentation.

burn the midnight oil 深夜工作或學習(開夜車)
源自於17世紀，當時人們在晚上使用油燈工作或學習。因為那時還沒有電燈，晚上的照明依靠燃燒油燈，所以熬夜工作就被形象地描述為"burning the midnight oil"（燃燒午夜的油），常用來描述一個人在深夜工作或學習的情況。 e.g. If you keep burning the midnight oil, you might end up exhausted.
