1. 表（主觀或客觀認為）無法實現的『願望』
|
- I wish I were / was a magician.
（要是我現在是個魔術師就好了。） - If only he had listened to me.
（要是他當時有聽我的話就好了。） - Would that my dream could come true.
（但願我的夢想可以成真。）

2. 表希望能予實現的『祝福』
= May you / he / she + V...! |
- I wish her a quick recovery.（受格）
= May she make a quick recovery!（主格）
（祝她早日康復。） - We wish you a merry Christmas.（受格）
= May you have a merry Christmas!（主格）
（祝你耶誕快樂。）
《補充說明》 表可實現的『希／願望』，用 hope，如：
I hope he can persist to the end.
（我希望他能堅持到底。）
