短文聽讀 Text

　　I went for dinner with my friend, Dana, the other evening. Dana had a real glow about her and she ate a lot: two starters, a main course, and two desserts“! Eating for two?” I asked her. No sooner had I said those words than I was overwhelmed with regret. Dana was really offended. She was not pregnant, she informed me. I guess she was just hungry. Me and my big mouth!
　　Then, last night, I went for a few drinks with Dana’s husband, Stan. After several beers, Stan got very talkative and let slip a secret: He and his wife are expecting a baby! So, Dana is pregnant! No sooner had he
told me than I became very confused. Why did Dana hide the fact that she is pregnant? Stan informed me that most couples wait until 12 weeks to reveal their news, as this is when the chance of miscarriage
significantly decreases. At least now I don’t feel as bad about me and my big mouth!

　　前幾天晚上我和我的朋友黛娜一起去吃晚餐。黛娜容光煥發而且吃了很多：兩道開胃菜、一道主餐還有兩道甜點！我問她：｢一人吃兩人補嗎？｣一說完那些話，我就後悔不已。黛娜感到被冒犯了。她告訴我她並沒有懷孕。我猜她只是剛好餓了。我真是多嘴！
　　然後，昨晚我與黛娜的老公史丹去小酌幾杯。幾杯啤酒下肚後，史丹變得很健談還把祕密說溜了嘴：他和他老婆要生小孩了！所以，黛娜確實懷孕了！他一講完我就感到十分困惑。為什麼黛娜要隱瞞她懷孕的事情呢？史丹告訴我大部分的夫妻會等到第十二週後才會揭曉這個消息，因為這是流產機率大幅降低的時候。至少現在我不用為自己多嘴一事感到愧疚了！
