Elle Drops Fur from Magazines and Online Content across the Globe
For a long time, the presence of animal fur on clothing was seen as a fashionableluxury. However, many now consider it a sign of animal cruelty. This change in attitude is also being reflected in the fashion industry itself.
Fashion magazine Elle, with 45 publicationsthroughout the world, has announced they will no longer include articles that promote the use of fur in their print and online publications. Thirteen of the company’s magazines have already removedfur products from their content. Twenty more will follow suit in 2022, with the rest starting a year later. The decision, though, is more than just about protecting animal rights. A big market for Elle is younger adults, who tend to be against the use of animal fur and want fashion to make ethical and sustainable fashion choices.
Stephen Curry Breaks NBA Record
In an NBA game against the New York Knicks in mid-December 2021, Stephen Curry, a Golden State Warriors guard, scored his 2,974th three-pointer and set the NBA record for career three-pointers.
The moment Curry completed the momentous shot, the Warriors immediately committed a foul and called a time-out so that Curry and his teammates could celebrate his accomplishment. Curry blew a kiss and pounded his chest. He also jogged backwards on the court and hugged his father. With that shot, Curry broke the record previously established by Ray Allen and, before him, Reggie Miller. Both Allen and Miller attended the Warriors-Knicks game and gave Curry a special gift: a uniform with the number 2,974 on the back.
