水果果核的英文是 core，而 rotten 作形容詞有「腐爛的」之意，所以英文用 be rotten to the core（爛到果核裡去了）來形容「某人或某物爛透了」，一起往下看例句吧！

例：Billy is rotten to the core! Money is the only thing he cares about.
比利這個人爛透了！他眼裡只有錢。
另外，中文有一種說法是『one rotten apple spoils the barrel』，字面上的意思是『一顆壞掉的蘋果會讓整桶的蘋果都跟著腐爛』。也就是中文所說的『一粒老鼠屎，壞了一鍋粥』。spoil 是動詞，表『破壞』。barrel 則是『 桶子』

（一粒老鼠屎，壞了一鍋粥。你真是個壞榜樣。）
