相信大家都知道expect有「期望、期待」的意思，但它的用法其實蠻多人會用錯，
想問問大家，如果我要說「別對他期望太大」大家覺得下列哪個說法是正確的
Don’t expect him too much. 或 Don’t expect too much of him. ?
expect 為「期望」之意，表「對某人有所指望」或「對某人沒有指望」應採下列結構：
a. expect 物 of 人 對某人有所期望。
例 All parents expect their children something. (X)
→ All parents expect something of their children. (O)
(所有父母都對子女有所期望。)
b. expect nothing of 人 對某人沒有期望
例 I expect nothing of Peter because he goofs around all day. (O)
(彼得整天打混，因此我對他沒有期望。)
c. expect too much of 人 對某人期望太高
例 Don’t expect Andy too much. After all, he is just a ten-year-old boy. (X)
→ Don’t expect too much of Andy. After all, he is just a ten-year-old boy. (O)
(別對安迪期望太大。畢竟，他是個 10 歲小男孩。)
