



Taiwan Rocked by Magnitude 7.2 Earthquake and Its Aftershocks
On April 3, 2024, a magnitude 7.2 earthquake struck Taiwan off the coast of Hualien. Strong shaking was felt across Taiwan, but Hualien County took the hardest hit. Multiple buildings were damaged in the city, and landslides occurred in the mountainous areas. Tragically, the natural disaster claimed at least 18 lives.
The earthquake had a magnitude of just 3.2, so fortunately it was not strong enough to cause serious damage.
