• I suggested (that) she take a day off.

• They demanded (that) the results of the investigation be made public.
  （他們要求將調查結果公諸於世。）
• The pharaoh commanded (that) Joseph be freed.
  （法老王下令將約瑟夫釋放。）
• George insisted (that) we stay overnight in his house.
  （喬治堅持我們留在他的屋子過夜。）

• It is essential (that) the new law (should) be enforced.
  （有必要執行新法。）
• It is imperative (that) a meeting be convened.
  （召開會議刻不容緩。）

• It's strange (that) the kids should be so quiet today.
  （奇怪的是，今天這幾個孩子居然這麼安靜。）
• It is a pity that you should miss such a golden opportunity.
  （很遺憾你竟然錯過這麼一個大好機會。）

《補充說明》

1. suggest 表『暗示』，insist 表『強調／堅信』時，其後的子句接『直說法』動詞。
2. 『建議／要求／命令／堅持』以名詞的形式出現（如 suggestion, insistence 等）時，仍適用原句型。
3. 上列第 3 項（It is funny, odd... that...）的句型之中的 that 子句亦可採『直說法』動詞。
