連假回來上班的第一天總是特別厭世，可能前一晚就開始有收假症候群。
左看右看一下同事的臉部表情是不是很憔悴還沒調回工作模式XD?

你會怎麼用英文描述一個人悶悶不樂呢? 當別人對你說別板著一張"long face"，可別解讀成「長臉」喔!

今天就來學學幾句「情緒低落、不開心」的英語表達方式吧~

★ be down in the dumps   悶悶不樂

· dump (n.) 垃圾場；髒亂的地方
Ex: I’m down in the dumps today because I have lots of things to do.  
(我今天悶悶不樂，因為我有好多事情要做。)

★ down in the mouth   垂頭喪氣 (可以想像成嘴角向下，樣貌沮喪)
Ex: She looks a little down in the mouth.   (她看起來情緒有點低落。)

★ have sth on one’s mind   有心事，有…牽掛
Ex: I have a lot on my mind at the moment.   (我現在心事重重。/有很多事得操心。)

★ the long face   愁眉苦臉

描述一個人愁眉苦臉，臉就像垮下來一樣，可以搭配動詞wear/pull 指「擺臭臉」。

用表情特徵來形容情緒。例如:keep your chin up!字面意思是將下巴抬起來，傳達的情緒是自信與堅強，可用來鼓勵對方勇敢面對問題。再例如:keep a stiff upper lip用來傳達的形象是上唇不動，表示面臨困境時臨危不亂。|

Ex: Why the long face? Look on the bright side.   (為什麼愁眉苦臉的? 往好處去想。)
Ex: He came to me with a long face.   (她臉色不悅地來找我。)

★ look glum   看起來鬱鬱寡歡

· glum (a.) 憂鬱的；悶悶不樂的
Ex: He looks glum the whole morning.   (他一整個上午都看起來悶悶不樂的。)

★ not a happy camper   煩惱、悶悶不樂

· happy camper 高興的人
Ex: I would not be a happy camper if I stepped out of my comfort zone. 
(假如我踏出我的舒適圈，我是不會開心的。)

 

★ cry sb’s eyes out   嚎啕大哭，痛哭流涕

通常是指因沮喪而痛哭，像是要把眼睛給哭出來了。

Ex: She was crying her eyes out since she lost an important document.  (她因弄丟一份重要文件而嚎啕大哭。)

★ be reduced to tears   潸然淚下
· be reduced to + N/Ving   使某人淪落到…的地步
Ex: She was reduced to tears when she heard the poor sales figures.  (當她聽到這個很差的業績，潸然淚下。)

 

Zoe: Ken, you haven’t been yourself lately. Is anything wrong?

Ed: To tell you the truth, Amanda, I have a lot on my mind, and I’m so depressed.

Zoe: If you need to talk, I’m all ears.

Ed: That’s so kind of you. It’s my girlfriend; she broke up with me.

Zoe: I understand what you’re going through. My boyfriend dumped me last week.

Ed: Really? Do you need to talk?
