2023 Met Gala Honored Karl Lagerfeld and His Cat
The annual Met Gala, a significant event in the fashion world, was held in New York City with a theme that honored late fashion icon Karl Lagerfeld. Guests were asked to dress in honor of Karl Lagerfeld, who passed away in 2019 at age 85. Many celebrities came dressed in fancy outfits, wearing pearls, starched collars, and black-and-white clothing. The event also honored Lagerfeld’s famous cat, Choupette, with at least two celebrities dressing up as the cat, namely rapper Doja Cat and actor Jared Leto.
However, not everyone was pleased with the Karl Lagerfeld theme. Some in the fashion industry criticized the designer’s past controversial comments. Despite this, most people emphasized that the night was meant to celebrate Lagerfeld’s work, not the man himself.
