表『雖然∕儘管……』的副詞子句

句型(1)：though / although + S + V　　雖然

• Although Pierre is French, he speaks English fluently.
  （雖然皮耶是法國人，他英文講得很流利。）
• She still looks young though she may have turned 40.
  （她仍然看起來年輕，雖然她可能年過 40。）

《補充說明》 

1. even though / if（即使）是 though 的『強調』說法，但沒有 even although 的說法。如：Even though it was not so cold, she wore a fur coat.（即使當時並非很冷，她仍穿著一件皮毛大衣。）
2. though 作副詞，可置於句末，相當於 however（之前須加一逗點）表『不過』，如：I can't stay. I'll have a coffee, though.（我不能留下來。不過，我可以喝杯咖啡再走。）

句型(2)：

（零冠詞）N.（過時用法） Adj. Adv. V.

+ as + S + (助動詞) + V　　雖然∕儘管

• Child as she is, she can fight bravely like a soldier.
  = Although she is only a child, she can fight bravely like a soldier.
  （雖然她只是一個孩子，卻能像士兵一樣勇敢作戰。）
• Strange as the whole thing may sound, it is a fact.
  （這整件事情聽起來似乎奇怪，但卻是事實。）
• Much as I sympathize with you, I'm not able to help.
  （雖然我很同情你，但我幫不上忙。）
• Try as we may, we cannot win every game.
  （儘管我們努力嘗試，我們也無法場場都贏。）

 

 

句型(3)：

Despite In spite of For all Notwithstanding

+ n. / V-ing...

, S + V...　雖然∕儘管

• Despite their age difference, they fell in love.
  （雖然雙方年齡有些差距，他們彼此相戀。）
• My father is always cheerful in spite of poverty.
  （儘管貧窮，我父親總是保持愉快的心情。）
• For all its drawbacks, democracy is still the best political system in the world.
  （雖然有些缺陷，民主政治仍是世上最好的政治制度。）
• A lot of people were still staying outside notwithstanding the drop in temperature.
  （儘管氣溫下降，還是有很多人待在外面。）
